2.2  Messages Moderation

MD forums provide an identical management system for all managers. A message will always be marked as unverified (or non-validated in case of a priori moderation) as long as a manager as not marked this item as “seen”

At the forum root, on the category list, you can simply click on the Moderation menu in the tab bar to quickly access waiting messages for all forums. However, you cannot edit all "a priori" forums at the same time.

Inside categories, on the thread list, you will find a similar icon in the tab bar. However there is no drop down menu. Simply click on the icon to automatically access the Quick or A Priori moderation interface depending on the nature of moderation set up for this category

2.2.1  Moderate messages inside the thread list

To the right of each message, managers can quickly access moderation features

Note

In our example, you can see a grey area. This is a message that has been previously deleted by another manager.

If you click on the icon, you can mark this message as « to be restored » The restoration process will be effective once you have clicked on the “Delete/restore the selected messages” at the bottom of the page.

Depending on the situation, you may also see an extra icon in the moderation bar of the right. This icon means that this message has been posted by a member with multi pseudos.

Clicking on the icon will bring you to this member’s multi pseudo management interface.

Finally, you may also see this icon : . Refer to the appendix section titled Change Author for more information about its usage

2.2.1.1  Extra tabs inside messages

When entering a thread, moderators should have two extra tabs compared to members.

The first tab enables the moderator to filter the thread messages in order to display those which have been deleted

The second tab enables the manager to perform moderation actions: to close the thread (members will not be able to add their reply), to move the thread in a different category, sub category, or to simply delete the thread.

Note

In case a thread should be moved, administrators managing several MD forums can also move a topic to another forum category.

Should a thread be moved, its author will be notified either by email or by PM depending on the member’s profile parameters (see Forum user Guide).

When this action is performed, the original URL of the thread will redirect to its new location.

You can also delete all the replies of a particular member to this thread by clicking on the member pseudo in the left column

2.2.2  Moderation by Edition

can do several things when editing member messages via the edition icon above each message

2.2.2.1  Editing the first message

When editing the first message, moderators have an extra option that other members do not have. You can turn a classic thread as a « sticky », which means that it will stay at the top of the list (See more details here).

2.2.2.2  Editing the following messages

If you edit a message which is not the first one of the thread it will add two more options to the default ones located under the validation button.

You can remove this message by checking the delete box. You can also delete this message plus those that follow in the thread. This is useful in case members gradually go off-topic.
