The categories

MyDiscussions.net is based on a system of categories and sub-categories so that users can easily find conversations that interest them: The administrator will first define a category (eg. "Tennis") and then he can specify a group of sub-categories (eg."Rackets" "Tournaments" etc...) and select the one by default. The administrator can even create a super category which gathers several categories (in our example, "Sport").

Appearance

You can deeply customize the graphical appearance of the forum: in this way, all colors can be modified, you can insert code to specific places on pages for a particular category or for the entire forum (at the top, at the bottom, in specific lateral places). You can play around with the themes, the frames and all the icons as well as with the toolbar layout. You may also want to display or hide certain fields and to manage spots reserved for advertisements.

The members

The administrator gets lots of options to manage forum members: you are in plain control of their signature (by choosing to limit the number of characters or to forbid images insertion), their personal quote, their avatar, their personal smileys, their image library etc... The administrator can also specify user ranks depending on the number of posted messages, or a list of members who have special access to a particular category, or modify the user's nickname and password.

Forum security management

The administrator has full control over the forum. He can manually validate all new subscriptions before they become effective, he can also choose to set up an open access. He manages users avatars or personal smileys. He can forbid users with a certain IP address to access the forum or definitely ban users associated with a list of specific IP addresses. All moderation actions are recorded and statistically analyzed. The administrator can hire other administrators and moderators and restrict their authority on certain forum categories.

Protection against inappropriate messages

MyDiscussions.net comes with several tool to control the content of posted messages: You can forbid certain words and have them automatically replaced by other words, you can set up the anti-flood feature (in case many messages should be posted in a short amount of time by one user) by specifying a minimum waiting time between two messages. Also, you will find an anti-SMS option for you to apply a filter to guarantee a certain quality for the syntax used in posted messages.

Detailed statistics

The administration interface gives you access to your forum statistics: number of viewed pages, number of posted messages, number of created topics, highest number of connected members on a given day, number of subscriptions. Those statistics can be filtered by month, quarter or year. You can also filter them for each category.
